How it works
- Drop your PDF — any size. The file is opened locally by your browser; it is never uploaded anywhere.
- Each page is re-rendered as an optimized image at the resolution you choose, which removes the bloated graphics that design tools embed.
- The original text is re-inserted invisibly at the same coordinates, so the compressed PDF still lets you select, copy and search text.
- Download — typically 90–98% smaller.
Why we have no size limit (and others do)
| PDF Any Size | Typical online compressors | |
|---|---|---|
| Max file size | Unlimited | 50–200 MB |
| Where compression runs | Your browser | Their servers |
| Your file is uploaded | Never | Always |
| Price | Free | Free tier + subscription |
Size caps exist because classic services must receive your file before they can touch it — and uploads cost them bandwidth, storage and processing time. We moved the entire pipeline into your browser, so the cap simply has nothing to apply to.
Why is my PDF so huge in the first place?
Design tools — Figma, Canva, Sketch, sometimes PowerPoint — export every image, shadow and blur as full-resolution PNGs, often one per layer. A single slide can carry 50+ embedded images at 2–4× screen resolution. That's how a 17-slide deck ends up weighing 200 MB. Re-rendering each page once at a sensible resolution removes all of that redundancy while looking identical on screen.
FAQ
Is there really no file size limit?
Really. Size limits exist because other services must upload your file to their servers, and uploads are capped by their infrastructure. PDF Any Size compresses the file inside your browser, so there is nothing to upload and nothing to cap. 200 MB, 500 MB, 2 GB — if your computer can open it, we can compress it.
Is it safe for confidential documents?
Yes. Your PDF never leaves your device — you can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads and compression will still work. There are no servers that store, scan or log your files.
How much smaller will my PDF get?
Design-heavy PDFs (Figma, Canva, InDesign exports) typically shrink by 90–98%. A 200 MB presentation usually lands between 3 and 15 MB depending on the quality preset.
Will the text still be selectable and searchable?
Yes. We re-insert the original text as an invisible layer at the exact same coordinates, so selection, copying and Ctrl+F keep working — this also keeps the PDF indexable.
Is it free? What's the catch?
It's completely free, with no sign-up, watermarks or page limits. There is no catch: because processing happens on your device, our hosting costs are close to zero — we just serve a static page.
